From July 24 to 25, the International Conference on Upfront Engineering Education and Professional Mobility 2024 took place in Bangkok, Thailand. Hosted by the Council of Engineers Thailand (COET), the conference brought together key signatories of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) to discuss the quality education and professional development towards global engineering mobility and sustainable future. CEEAA delegation participated in the meeting, where Prof. Xuedong Yan, Senior Distinguished Expert and President of Southwest Jiaotong University(SWJTU), delivered a keynote report.

President of COET and the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MHESI) delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. The Chair of Washington Accord, the Chair of APEC Engineers Agreement and the Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI made a report on “Quality Education and Professional Development towards Global Engineering Mobility and Sustainable Future” respectively.

? ? ? ?Prof. Xuedong Yan was invited to give a keynote report on the topic of " Innovation in Interdisciplinary Engineering Education:Towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)". He focused on CEEAA's reform initiatives and effectiveness in promoting the implementation of the SDGs and the IEA 2021 Graduate Attributes and Professional Competencies Framework, as well as SWJTU's specific practices in interdisciplinary engineering education. The audience remained highly engaged throughout the report and responded positively.

In recent years, CEEAA has continuously strengthened international cooperation, held the International Engineering Education Symposium with the support of the IEA, the WFEO and the FEIAP, and actively engaged in international exchanges with engineers’ organizations from multiple countries, strengthening mutual accreditation of engineering education and exploring the recognition of engineering qualifications. Moving forward, the CEEAA will continue to enhance the engineering education accreditation system that meet global standards, promote engineering education reforms, and improve the quality of engineering education. Additionally, we will work to establish a mutual recognition system with ASEAN, the African Union, and other ‘Belt and Road’ countries, while playing a deeper role in the global governance of engineering education.
